By combining New Wave and electronic music, New Order became one of the most critically acclaimed and highly influential bands of the 1980s. Though the band's early years were shadowed by the legacy and basic sound of Joy Division, their immersion in the early 1980s New York City club scene increased their knowledge of dance music and enabled them to incorporate elements of that style into their work. The band's 1983 hit "Blue Monday", the best-selling 12-inch single of all time, is one example of how the band transformed their sound.
Following a sell-out UK tour, and a series of triumphant festival dates throughout Europe this spring and summer, New order can now confirm their first tour of North America since 2005. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Bernard Sumner said, "We've been having such a great time together this year, playing shows all over Europe, and we're all really excited to be playing America again. We have so many friends and fans there we can't wait to get back!" New Order's last U.S. tour was back in May 2005, their last U.S. show an exclusive appearance at Miami's Ultra Music Festival earlier this year, and their last visit to Canada was 11 years ago, in 2001.
