East Bay Express Would the Fox Theater be as successful without the genius of Berkeley-based music promoters Another Planet Entertainment? Likely not. The organizers behind the wildly successful Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park, the jam-packed, act-filled Treasure Island Music Festival, and all the killer shows at the Greek Theatre as well as the Independent, Another Planet Entertainment has the golden touch, thanks to the leadership of Gregg Perloff and his talented staff. Perloff was president and CEO of Bill Graham Presents but left in 2003 to start APE with fellow BGPers Sherry Wasserman (concert production) and Steve Welkom (business and admin). Together, this group has the business of concert promotion and festival organization down to a science, producing more than 700 events and more than 1,000 shows in its relatively short history. APE this year has totally hit its stride as the Bay Area's preeminent music production company and continues to build its star-studded reputation as the guru of concert promotion. |
